Parent Teacher Organization
Each parent/guardian is automatically a member of the Parent-Teacher Organization and will be expected to participate according to the Constitution and bylaws of the organization. The main functions of the Parent Teacher Organization are to raise funds for the school’s current operational expenses, to promote parental support for the school program, and to increase mutual understanding between school and parents. The membership of the parent teacher organization shall include the pastor, the principal, the parents or legal guardians, and the faculty of the school.
Financial operation of a parent teacher organization shall be governed by the regulations for financial operations as found in the Parent Teacher Organization Bylaws.
All family units (including single parent units) are required to do 20 hours of service.
Each family is expected to participate in the fund raising projects at St. Hilary School.
St. Hilary School conducts an annual World’s Finest Chocolate Drive and a QSP magazine drive. Each student is responsible for selling one and one-half cases of candy during the World’s Finest Drive (or pay $180.00). Each student is also responsible for selling four magazine subscriptions during the QSP magazine drive, or twelve (12) per family if there are three or more children in the school. There is a $20.00 charge per subscription not sold.
Clarification of Tuition Amounts
All families paying the lower tuition must be registered in the St. Hilary Parish and have been using the parish envelopes weekly for one year. The total of the donation must equal or surpass the difference of the higher tuition amount. Each parent/guardian, whether single or married, must be registered in their own name in the parish. Only grandparents who have legal custody may use their envelope registration number to determine their tuition amount.
The school must have all correct information, mailing addresses and telephone numbers of parents/guardians, even though grandparents are taking care of the student.
All families are required to purchase $3,000.00 in scrip from June 1 - May 31. If a family decides to not participate in the scrip program, the fee is $300.00. If a family does not meet the quota of $3000.00 in scrip purchases, a 10% fee is charged for the balance not met from June 1 to May 31.
VIRTUS Teaching Touching Safety is a TK-12 program being implemented in religious education programs and Catholic schools. This program is a vehicle through which parents, teachers, catechists and youth ministers give children and young people the tools they need to protect themselves from those who might harm them.
The Archdiocesan Office of Safeguard the Children will work with principals at the schools and directors of Religious Education in the parishes to establish these programs. Questions concerning this program can be forwarded to Chancellor, Coordinator of children’s Programs at (213) 637-7460.
